The Sixth Form Bolton is a vibrant specialist 16-19 Sixth Form College with circa 1850 students. We are dedicated to releasing the potential of our students and staff alike. You would be joining a large and vibrant department. The Science department is the largest in the Sixth Form, offering A levels in: Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as the BTEC Extended National Diploma and the Extended Certificate. You would be joining a department who, at its heart, is preparing the learners in science to work in STEM, Medicine and Life and Physical sciences. The vast majority of students progress to HE but the department has a keen focus on developing the breadth of potential careers that its learners consider, showcasing jobs in alternative fields such as energy, nano technology, climate and water. Trips and visiting speakers are an integral feature of all provision. The department also contribute to the Super curricula provision for learners on the Honours Programme for progression to prestigious universities and in addition offer enrichment opportunities through Science Academies that operate workshops, projects and live briefs. These are well attended and valued by the learners.

The laboratories in the department are high quality, modern and very well equipped supported by specialist technicians in each discipline. Course teams work collaboratively and with passion to plan and deliver high quality courses that fully develop every individual to their potential. Candidates should be able to take up post from Monday 6th January 2025

We are looking for a teaching professional who can engage students with a range of diverse and well-planned lessons and who will kindle their curiosity for the wider world and opportunities available through studying Science. We also aim to provide courses of study that deliver excitement and enjoyment through wider enrichment of the curriculum.
