Contract Terms:                   Full-time, Permanent, Term-Time plus additional Hours

Start Date                             12th May 2025 (to facilitate 2-week hand over with current postholder)

Salary Rate                           Scale Point 17 SFCA Support Staf Pay Spine – Currently £31,219 (Actual Pro-Rata Annual Earnings based on     FTE - £32,866) [Possible 5.5% Pay Award Pending)

Located 10 miles northwest of Manchester with excellent motorway access, The Sixth Form Bolton is a vibrant, highly aspirational, high achieving Sixth Form College of c. 1800 students.  A modern building with fantastic facilities, it is located in the newly developed education sector of the town centre and offers a wide range of A Level and Level 3 Vocational programmes.

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Head of Student Liaison and Security to lead our student behaviour and security strategies. This pivotal role ensures the safety, well-being, and positive engagement of students across the college. You will oversee the implementation of student behaviour management, on-site security, and student liaison services, fostering a positive and safe learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Student Liaison and Security team, ensuring a visible and supportive presence across the college.

  • Implement and maintain policies that promote student safety, welfare, and positive behaviour.

  • Work closely with senior leadership, pastoral teams, and external stakeholders to provide a comprehensive approach to positive behaviours and security.

  • Oversee on-site security measures, responding effectively to incidents and ensuring a safe college environment.

  • Act as a key liaison between students and staff, promoting open communication and a positive student experience.

  • Manage student behaviour expectations, supporting students in meeting college standards and addressing concerns constructively.

  • Lead on conflict resolution and low-level student disciplinary procedures, ensuring fair and consistent approaches.


To succeed in this role, you will have:

✔ Experience in student welfare, security management, or a similar role within an educational setting.

✔ Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team effectively.
✔ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for working with young people.
✔ A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
✔ The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations effectively.
✔ A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution.
