First-year Sixth Form Bolton student: Tamim Aani
The Sixth Form Bolton is celebrating the remarkable success of students who have achieved exceptional GCSE English and Maths results.
Students have shown incredible resilience, studying GCSEs alongside their main study programmes, securing life-changing qualifications to support their future career progression. November GCSE resits are available for those students who had previously not yet achieved a grade 4 or above.
This year’s November resit results of 54% pass rate in English and 48% pass rate in Maths is a tremendous achievement and one that is significantly above the national benchmark for colleges and sixth forms in the country.
Tamim Aani was one of the students who sat the English GCSE and he was over the moon with his grade, achieving a fantastic grade 6 after he missed a grade 4 at school. Tamim said:
“I’m really pleased with my result! It’s great as I needed a 4 or above for my university applications and the fact that I exceeded that with a 6 is fantastic. I chose to come to The Sixth Form because of its excellent reputation and because I knew that I’d be able to resit my GCSE alongside my Level 3 course. My GCSE English teachers, Mr Edge and Mrs Parkinson, really went above and beyond with their support and I’m extremely grateful for their help. “
The Head of English & Modern Foreign Languages, Paul Edge, said:
"We are delighted with the students' results in the November resit, we've seen lots of hard work being rewarded with excellent results that students continue to get at the Sixth Form Bolton. Students have arrived in September with a grade of 3 and many gained a 5 or 6 in the space of 2 months, excellent work to all involved!"
Alisdair Staines, Deputy Director of Maths, was over the moon with the Maths results saying:
48% Grade 4+, including two Grade 5s, double the national pass rate…WE ARE THRILLED! These results reflect the hard work and commitment from our students. We are really proud of them. Special shout out to Triple Vocational Level 3 Business student, Manahil, who achieved Grade 5, improving by 56 marks since her June exams. We wish all students that passed every success in the rest of their studies, well done”
