Earlier this term, the Performing Arts Academy students at The Sixth Form Bolton were delighted to meet former Hollyoaks Actor, Gabriel Clark, when he came in to deliver a workshop.
Gabriel, who is from Bolton, is an actor, writer, producer and director and used his knowledge and experience from all these roles to deliver a fantastic workshop for the students. The screen acting workshop that he delivered involved many different interactive activities that encouraged the students to consider how acting on screen could be different to acting on stage.
Gabriel, who played the Ollie Morgan in Hollyoaks from 2019-23, spoke about his experiences as an actor and the importance of knowing your character.
The group also explored the reality of being an actor and securing acting roles. They set up audition rooms and acted out challenging scenarios to do this.
The students really enjoyed the workshop:
“Gabriel was a really energetic, engaging and fun teacher with helpful tips for the future”
Josua Grundy, first-year student
“It was super fun and educational as he taught us about the reality of auditions. He was really friendly and useful”
Zahra Mirzai, first-year student
“The workshop was really useful for me as I’ve always wondered how to do a professional audition. Gabriel did me a massive favour.”
The Sixth Form’s staff were also hugely appreciative of Gabriel’s session with Teacher of Performing Arts, Olivia Cort saying:
It was so fantastic to have Gabriel run a workshop at the Sixth Form; his session was really engaging and gave our students an invaluable insight into the working life of a professional actor.
Gabriel also really enjoyed his time at The Sixth Form saying:
It was such a joy to work with the drama students in my hometown at The Sixth Form Bolton. It brought me right back to that exciting point in life where anything is possible and every day is a chance to have your eyes opened to new ways of telling stories. The class was filled with so much talent and I can’t wait to see where all the students go!
